 About Yoav

As a musician myself, I try to document other musicians in a way that captures their emotional journey and gives viewers an itch to experience the music themselves in person

Yoav Trifman is a trombonist, euphoniumist, arranger, composer and photographer based out of Tel Aviv. He started playing trombone at age 12. After hearing his older brother play music of the great Dizzy Gillespie and Dexter Gordon, he was inspired to explore jazz. He attended Thelma Yellin High School For The Arts where he studied with important Israeli educators and musicians such as Amit Golan and Yuval Cohen. At 22, he moved to New York for two years in order to absorb jazz music from its source. During this period, he also discovered his love for still-photography and began carrying a camera alongside his trombone.

In 2018 Yoav put out his debut album as a bandleader titled "Nu Yo" which was released on Gut String Records with some of New York's best musicians.

Yoav continues to play jazz and capture special moments from a musician’s perspective- up close. Aside from his own projects, he is thankful to be part of fruitful collaborations with very talented artists such as Michael Edwards, Ram Erez, Don Hahn, Danny Rosenfeld, Asaf Yuria, Yonatan Voltzok, Iftah Kary, Eyal Vilner, Noa Shapira and Gabrielle Zwi.
